CPC diplomacy dossier: September 2006

1 to 3  Liu Dewang, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the CPC and Deputy Secretary of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the CPC, represented the CPC at the 30th Festival of Avanti at the invitation of the Communist Party of Portugal.

2 to 10  An Iranian party delegation headed by Hossein Mousavi-Tabrizi, Head of the House of Parties, visited China at the invitation of the CPC. He Yong, Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPC met with the delegation.

4 to 7  A Conservative Party delegation from the UK headed by William Hague, Shadow Foreign Secretary, paid a visit to China at the invitation of the CPC. Li Tieying, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), and State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with the delegation.

4 to 17  A delegation from the Party of Istiqlal of Morocco, headed by Mohamed Ansari, Member of the Executive Committee, President of the Legislation and Human Right's Committee of the Senate, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. Liu Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation.

5 to 14  A youth delegation from the Labor Party of Mexico visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

10 to 15  A delegation from the Syrian Baath Arab Socialist Party headed by Mohammed Saeid Bekheitan, the party's Assistant Secretary of Regional Leadership, paid a visit to China at the invitation of the CPC. Zeng Qinghong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC met with the delegation. Zeng said that China and Syria had maintained sound cooperation ever since the two countries established relations. Their ever-deepening mutual understanding and friendship had created new platforms for growth in the relationship. He hoped that the two sides could have more exchanges in the future to promote Sino-Syrian relations in an all round way.


11 to 20  A delegation from the People's National Movement of Trinidad and Tobago headed by Orville Delano London, Vice Political Leader, paid a visit to China at the invitation of the CPC. Luo Gan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC met with the delegation. Luo expressed strong appreciation for Trinidad and Tobago's efforts in supporting the One China Policy. He also hoped the two sides could increase their exchanges and cooperation to further promote stable bilateral ties.

13 to 20  Chu Bo, Member of the Central Committee of the CPC and Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPC, paid visits to Syria and Cyprus. Invitations had been extended by the Syrian Baath Arab Socialist Party and by the Democratic Party of the Republic of Cyprus. In Syria, Chu met with Abdulla al-Ahmar, Assistant Secretary General of the Syrian Baath Arab Socialist Party. In Cyprus, Chu met with Acting President and Speaker of the Congress, Demetris Christofias, and with Nicos Cleanthous, Acting President of the Democratic Party.

15 to 17  At the invitation of the Communist Party of Spain, Qiao Chuanxiu, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the CPC and Deputy Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC, represented the CPC at the "Communist Party Day of Spain".

15 to 17  At the invitation of the Humanite Press of the Communist Party of France, Ma Tieshan, Deputy Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee of the CPC, represented the CPC at press celebratory activities.

15 to 28  At the invitation of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, the National Democratic Party of Egypt, and the Party of European Socialists, Qiu Yuanping, Vice Director of the International Communications Office of the Central Committee of the CPC, headed a CPC delegation to attend the Political Conference of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party and the annual meeting of the National Democratic Party of Egypt. The delegation also paid a visit to the European Parliament in Belgium.

18 to 28  A CPC delegation, headed by Li Zhongjie, Deputy Director of the Party History Research Center, paid visits to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao. Invitations had been extended by the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Cambodian People's Party, the National United Front for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful, and Cooperative Cambodia (FUNCINPEC), and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

20 to 28  A delegation of senior officials from Lao headed by Asang Laoly, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the People's Revolutionary Party and Vice Prime Minister, visited China at the invitation of the CPC. He Yong, Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation.

21 to 28  A party delegation from Fiji headed by President Ratu Kalokalo Loki, paid a visit to China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. Sheng Huaren, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with the delegation.

23 to 27  Invitations having been extended by the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front and the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania, Wang Xiankui, Deputy Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the CPC represented the CPC at the 6th National Congress of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front and led a CPC delegation visiting Tanzania.

24 to 30  A delegation from the General Office of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by Deputy Director Hu Muyu, paid a visit to China at the invitation of the CPC.
