Young Professional Singers Compete

The 3rd round of the finals of the 11th China Youth TV Singing Contest with its professional division was held in Beijing Sunday evening. Zhang Yingxi, who represents the Central Conservatory of Music, took the top honor with 98.47 points.

All contestants showed off their outstanding singing abilities. Two pop singing groups offered a refreshing performance with their voices accompanied by their creative dance moves. Each of the 8 teams had singers perform operatic pieces. And two of them even chose the same aria --"Nessun Dorma", making the contest even more exciting. The judges said it is good that more and more Chinese people are interested in classical music. At the same time, they also pointed out that young singers should consider learning music theory instead of just imitating songs.
