Capital Kids Play with Snow Kid

More than 95% of China's urban families only have one child. And perhaps all of them share the "4-2-1 syndrome": four grandparents, two parents, all focusing their attention on the family's only child. How to educate the only child has been a knotty problem for years. But now, the Beijing Children's Art Troupe has offered one contribution --- their classic play Snow Kid.

In this world of snow, the lovely Snow Kid is born. But he is spoiled by too much love and care, and even freezes his grandparents just for fun. With the help of his friends, however, Snow Kid finally learns right from wrong. The author believes the play has even more relevance today than when it was written.

Wu Yuzhong, playwright of Snow Kid, said, "Snow Kid was created eight years ago, but I don't think it's out of date. The problem has become even more serious. Some parents told me that they love their kids so much, but are heartbroken when they find their kids are self-centered. I suggest they pay more attention to themselves."

Children, just like the snow kid, are pure and naive. They can be easily spoiled through too much love and care. Even though parents know that, it's still hard for them to stop indulging them.

For children, the best way to learn is through playing. It is expected that through this enjoyable play, children can learn more about how to treat others.
