150 years ago, Chinese student YungWing received a bachelor's degree from Yale University in the United States.

Yung Wing was the first Chinese student to receive a degree in a US university; today a ceremony was held here to mark the anniversary.

After graduation, Yung came back to China. In 1872 he organized the Chinese Educational Mission, and sent successively 4groups of a total of 120 young Chinese students to the United States, including more than 20 to Yale.

President of Yale University Richard C. Levin said at the ceremony that the United States and China should strengthen exchanges of students and cooperation in education.

Levin released at the ceremony his new book, The Work of The University (Chinese edition), which carries a portrait of Yung Wing.

Levin came to China to attend the Chinese-Foreign University Presidents' Forum to be held here from August 4 to 10.
