French Contemporary Art Work Exhibition Kicks Off

An exhibition of French contemporary art work of "From Sky To Temple of Heaven" opened at Temple of Heaven park in China's capital city of Beijing Sunday afternoon.

The 230 standards, five meters in length, are set in pedestals weighing 400 kilograms and are made up of declining gradations of five tones of a blue redolent of the lapis-lazuli used in the tiling of the temple itself. The flags stand along both sides of the central walkway leading up to the magnificent view or the "Altar of Prayer for Good Harvest".

The exhibition by French artist Daniel Buren will last till Nov.10, 2004. It is a part of the Year of France activity which opened Sunday in Beijing.
