Civilian Scientist to Teach in Military Institute

With the approval the Headquarters of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, a 64-year old civilian scientist is to teach in a military institute, according to army sources.

Li Chongyin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), joined the army and became a professor of the Meteorological Institute of the PLA University of Technology, in Nanjing, provincial capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China.
   
"It is an honor and life-long wish for me to be with the army," Li said at the initiation ceremony.
   
Li is known at home and abroad for his work in the study of meteorological science. He now chairs a national committee on weather studies.
   
Li will move to Nanjing, along with his family, to concentrate on the study of meteorological science for the military, according to the sources.
