HK Late Popular Diva's Wax Figure Unveiled in Town

Wax figure of Hong Kong's late popular diva Anita Mui was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong Tuesday.

Entitled "Queen of the Stage," the new wax figure exhibition is a tribute to achievement of Anita Mui, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 40, as one of the most popular home-grown female artists in Hong Kong.

Once Mui's wax figure unveiled, Mui's mother could not control her emotion anymore, tears came to her eyes as she stepped forward to kiss her "daughter" on her face.

Wearing a scarlet dress, holding a long stick in both hands, the diva is in a ready-to-dance posture. The star's charisma on stage has been thoroughly displayed and a concert ambiance was created at the gallery.

In addition to the great star's lifelike wax figure and photo images, the exhibition gallery also includes audio-visual systems playing famous songs by Mui and video clips of Anita Mui Factory Gig 2002.

The principal sculptor Jim Kempton and his team in Madame Tussauds Studio in London took five months to complete the wax figure. The total production cost was over one million HK dollars (about  US$128,210).
