Shanghai to Subsidize Private Educators

Shanghai will be allocating at least 40 million yuan (US$6.02 million) per year over the next three years to encourage the rapid growth of local private educational institutions, the Shanghai Education Commission said yesterday.

Most of the government subsidy will be used to support private universities’ research projects, purchase of teaching facilities and helping needy students in local elementary schools and kindergartens.
