New Cartoon Demonstrates Art of Tango

A 36 year-old Argentinean tango teacher has created a cartoon that revolves around the traditional Argentinean dance.

Cecilia Capisano says the cartoon featuring strong colors and designs tells the story of 16 characters from Buenos Aires who converge in a tango dancing saloon.

"We are going to talk about all the things that happen during love encounters, we are going to talk about life, work of people who live in a cosmopolitan city like Buenos Aires."

Her idea comes from the growing popularity of tango.

In 2003 Capisano joined Raquel Iznaola, a Cuban multimedia designer in Buenos Aires, to start work on the first Argentinean-made cartoon about tango.

The initial project was presented during a design contest made by the Buenos Aires Department of Culture where it won the "Metropolitan Enter Award".

The project now awaits funding from potential investors and producers.
