Musical Carnival in Pudong

The 2005 Shanghai Pudong International Music Carnival will be held on May 1-7 at Century Park in Pudong.

Ten world-class bands from the United States, Ireland, Brazil and elsewhere will provide a sumptuous feast of music, said Du Yongping with the Shanghai Pudong Cultural Development Co Ltd, the event's organizer.

The samba performed by Samba Docoracao of Brazil, percussion music by American Procrastinators, Scottish songs and dances by the Irish Molly's Revenge, African country music performed by Prince Eyango, as well as rock-and-roll, American bluegrass, and Beetles' classics will be staged in turn from 10am to 9:30pm, Du said.

He said the gala, which drew some 140,000 people last year, is expected to attract 150,000 to 200,000 visitors this year.
