A computer system for processing the Hieroglyphic writing of the Naxi nationality has been developed by the Dalian Nationalities University and is applying for patent. It indicates that the printing, typesetting and designing era for the Naxi hieroglyphic writing has truly arrived.

According to sources, with some two-dimensional design software beautiful patterns of the Naxi writing can be created. These can be used widely in advertising design, tourism products, Naxi writing publications and the inputting and protection of historical literature etc., which are of great importance for the protection of the Naxi hieroglyphic writing.

The Dalian Nationalities University is one of the six nationality higher education institutes directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. Word processing of writings of the ethnic minorities is a main research in the university.
