Online Cartoon Exhibition Opened

-- for Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Anti-fascist Victory

The online cartoon exhibition for celebrating the 60th anniversary of the allied anti-fascist victory in WWⅡwas jointly held by China Daily Website, the China Artists Association's cartoon committee, and China Journalistic Caricature Society on June 15, 2005 in Beijing.

More than twenty famous Chinese cartoonists, including Hua Junwu, Zhang Ding, Fang Cheng, and Jiang Yousheng attended the opening ceremony and seminar.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the anti-fascist victory, the online cartoon exhibition displayed more than 150 old photos and cartoons drawn during the war.

In the 1940s, cartoonists from both home and abroad used their brush-pencils to protest fascism and at that time many Chinese cartoonists produced a lot of anti-Japanese cartoons, disclosing Japanese army's atrocity and arousing the Chinese morale. Those cartoonists put the Chinese cartoons' cause to a peak in those days and they also contributed to China's victory in the war.

Today, these precious cartoons are put on the website (www.chinadaily.com.cn) to share with everybody,
