Shandong to Stage Festival Marking Master Sun

An international cultural festival marking the ancient Chinese military scientist Master Sun is scheduled to be staged September 5-8 in Guangrao County of east China's Shandong Province, native place of Master Sun.

Master Sun, named Sun Wu, was a native of the Qi State in the Spring and Autumn Period (770 B.C.-476 B.C.). He compiled the world's first military works The The Art of War which produced great impact on the military theoretical development both in China and the rest of world.

According to the organizing committee of the festival, Master Sun's The Art of War has been widely accepted as the classics on military science, which has been even widely applied in the sectors of politics, diplomacy and economy.

A series of activities will be held during the festival including forums on The Art of War, the performance of the local traditional Lu Opera, parade and martial arts performance.

About 1,300 representatives from both home and abroad are expected to attend the festival which is meant to glorify the thinking of Master Sun and expand Sino-foreign exchanges.
