A retrospective exhibition was held Thursday in southwest China's Chongqing municipality to mark the 20th anniversary of the implementation of China's Archives Law, adopted in 1987.

As part of the exhibition, visitors can find from it a complete and vivid archives of 25 mayors of Chongqing, who have served the city since its establishment in 1927.

This is the first time that all 25 mayors of the municipality "are together meeting the public" via their pictures and detailed documents, re-telling visitors a true story of Chongqing in its 80 years of development.

According to statistics displayed at the exhibition, the current population of Chongqing has reached 31 million, marking a 150 times increase over the number of eighty years ago.

The exhibition is scheduled to be moved to the city's liberation monument for permanent display after the show.

A retrospective exhibition held on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, introduces 25 mayors who served Chongqing over the past 80 years.
