Beijing Olympic sculptures well received in Fiji
Adjust font size:

Following their display in Chicago and Washington of the United States, the landscape sculptures of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games toured Suva, the capital of Fiji.

The exhibition was held from Dec.7-11 in the South Pacific nation at the invitation of the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee.

A total of 110 exhibits were on display. They were chosen from the works of sculptors from 25 countries and regions and over 20 provinces and municipalities of China.

Thousands of local people went to the exhibition.

Rata Peni Volavola, mayor of Suva, said Fijian people are very pleased to share the exhibition of the Olympic sculptures.

"I'm sure that the exhibition has inspired the athletes and even the entire population of Fiji up to the Beijing Olympics," said Volavola.
