First 'Channel of China' to open in Russia
Adjust font size:

The first TV Channel of China will open on Feb. 8 in Russia to give the audiences in the Russian language region a full-scale guide to China, Chinese ambassador in Russia said here on Wednesday.

"The Channel of China is a new born in Sino-Russian relations, another fruit bred from the theme years, and an example of Russia's 'China fever,'" Liu Guchang said at the introduction ceremony held at the embassy.

The channel will focus on news about Sino-Russian relations, how to do business in China, programs teaching the Chinese language, series on China's art, culture, history, places of interest, and also well-chosen Chinese movies, teleplays, and cartoons. There will also be talk shows on hot issues discussing problems emerged during Sino-Russian exchanges.

"I hope and believe that this channel will engender positive effects on enhancing mutual understanding, trust and friendship of the peoples, promoting practical cooperation in many areas and pushing the sound and continuous development of Sino-Russian relations," Liu said.

When the channel is completed, all residents in the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Balkan countries will receive the programs.
