Int'l Sand Sculpture Contest Due in Ningxia
A seven-day international sand sculpture contest is scheduled to begin on August 11 in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, northwest China.

A spokesman for the organizing committee said about 20 sand sculptors from 11 countries would take part in the contest. Its theme was wonders of the Silk Road, an ancient trade route linking Asia and Europe that runs through Ningxia.

The sculptors are top prize winners from a number of international sand sculpture competitions.

The World Sand Sculpture Association has designated the contest as an international event.
