Work Begins on Chinese-Mongolian Dictionary
More than 100 specialists have begun compiling a Chinese-Mongolian dictionary with a special function being held at the Inner Mongolia University to mark the event.

The bilingual dictionary, one of the state's key publications in its tenth-five-year plan (2001-2005), will contain some 300,000 entries and five million Chinese characters.

Boligao, a research fellow at the Social Sciences Academy of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has been appointed chief editor of the dictionary, which is scheduled for publication in 2005.

Mongolian studies have gained popularity worldwide and currently experts from over 80 countries are working in the field, said sources from the Center for Mongolian Studies at the Inner Mongolia University.

The bilingual dictionary will be of value in the promotion of Mongolian studies at home and overseas, an expert from the center said.
