182-meter-long Painting of Ancient Beijing Completed
A 182-meter-long scroll painting, which depicts the grandeur of ancient Beijing in the 17th and 18th centuries, has been completed by a group of Chinese painters.

The painting was put on display at a news conference Saturday at the Great Hall of the People. Tomur Dawamat, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, was present.

According to the sponsors of the painting, including the People's Daily and over 20 other institutions, the painters spent three years to finish the artwork while consulting a large number of people from different circles.

The painting shows the solemn castles and gates of the ancient capital as well as official rites, military exercises, cultural activities and daily life of ordinary people.
