Hong Kong Graduate Students Urged to Take IELTS
The University Grants Committee (UGC) of Hong Kong Monday urged the students of UGC-funded institutions to submit their applications for the Common English Proficiency Assessment (CEPA) scheme on or before November 30.

"We encourage students who are interested to take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) under the CEPA scheme to submit their applications as soon as possible," a UGC spokesman said.

"Students of undergraduate degree programs of UGC-funded institutions who are graduating in the current academic year are particularly urged to do so as the IELTS result will serve as a useful reference to facilitate their entering the workforce or pursuing further studies," he said.

"Places for a number of testing sessions are being filled up and the deadline for registration is November 30, 2002," he added.

The UGC announced the adoption of IELTS as the common English proficiency assessment in July this year.

Students of undergraduate degree programs of UGC-funded institutions who are graduating in the current academic year are entitled to reimbursement of test fee once if they agree to have the fact that they have participated in the scheme reflected in their transcripts.
