China, Israel Sign Cultural, Academic Agreement
China and Israel signed an cultural cooperation agreement in Beijing Monday to work together in cultural and academic arenas.

The Agreement on Cultural and Academic Cooperation 2002-2005 sets out a framework for the two countries to cooperate in the fields of culture, the arts, exhibitions, films, television and education.

Dan Kyram, deputy director-general for cultural and scientific affairs at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed the hope that cultural exchanges and cooperation in the years ahead would encourage mutual understanding of the two peoples.

China and Israel forged diplomatic ties in January 1992. Since the first Agreement on Cultural and Academic Cooperation was signed on May 20,1993, bilateral cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries have had been fruitful.
