Piano Maestro in Double Act
The noted pianist Xu Zhong will take the baton of the Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra when German piano maestro Sebastian Knauer gives a concert on March 15.

Organizers said Sebastian Knauer has just finished performing and directing all 27 Mozart Piano Concertos with the Hamburg Philharmonic and is coming to the city to prepare for the concert with Xu Zhong, an event which will be the first of its kind.

Xu Yingzhi, spokeswoman for the concert, said, "Sebastian Knauer was regarded as piano prodigy when he gave his concerto debut at the age of 13 after winning numerous competitions."

Knauer has since worked with many of the major orchestras in the world, such as the NDR-Symphony, the Hamburg State Philharmonic, the Hamburg Symphony, the Vienna Chamber, the Netherlands Chamber and the Israel Chamber Orchestra.

Together with other distinguished musicians, such as Philippe Entremont, Knauer regularly performs repertoire for two pianos.

This time Xu Zhong will join Knauer to present the Double Piano Concertos of Mozart.

"The duet of the two pianos will probably be the most brilliant part of the concert," added Xu.
