The Hong Kong Computer Festival 2003, an exposition of information technology products, has attracted the attention of many local residents since it opened on May 29. On Saturday alone, the festival witnessed the arrival of more than 100,000 visitors.
The computer festival is the first major business event held in Hong Kong since the World Health Organization lifted its travel advisory warning on the city. The HKSAR government hopes it will help to boost business in the region by stimulating consumption and increasing consumer confidence.
The 48 exhibitors are displaying their latest products at the festival. And since some of their products are priced 40 percent lower than market prices, customers are keen to purchase.
An exhibitor said, "Prices for this fair are about 30 percent lower on average than last year's".
This year's Computer Festival is the second of its kind. Last year's festival attracted a total of 200,000 visitors, and achieved a business volume of HK$100 million. It is expected that attendance at this year's festival will be even greater than last year's.
