An all-inclusive works on the general history of China's politics, the first of its kind in the country, has been published by the Taishan Publishing House in east China's Shandong Province.

Comprising 12 volumes with a total of some 4 million characters, the comprehensive works records the burgeoning of politics in ancient China through to the convocation of the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November last year.

A source with the publishing house said on Thursday that the works cover extensively from the rise and fall of ancient successive Chinese imperial dynasties, to the country's internal and foreign affairs, political reforms, political characters of every descriptions and major political events in China.

Some prestigious historians take this lengthy, knowledgeable works for a great feat in the study in the spheres of China's history and politics, saying that it has filled a gap in the schools of history and politics studies and so it is of major significance for promoting socialist ethics as well as political and cultural development in the country's new historical period.
