This year's Hong Kong debut of the handicapped artists troupe from the Chinese mainland has provided a good cheering-up for people in the territory troubled by the SARS epidemic and a sluggish economy.
With the theme of "My Dream", Wednesday night's performance was an ode to human dignity in face of hardship. The artists in this troupe, which has been long－proclaimed as the embodiment of performance art rich in noble humanity, gave the Hong Kong audience a new surprise with their unique choreography.
Twisting their bodies into impossible angles, but always responding to each other, these performers make a call for mutual care in difficulties. They certainly aroused the emotions of the more than 1,000 people present -- most of them being handicapped themselves or having relatives who are.
The troupe will give five performances and also offer two charity shows, for medical workers fighting against SARS.
