Liu Huan Joins the Opera of Sister Liu

China's pop heavyweight, Liu Huan, is now contributing his voice to an eminent Chinese opera entitled, Sister Liu. China's famed film and stage director Zhang Yimou is behind the stage production.

Pop sensations such as Qi Qin and the A RiRang group have already contributed their vocal power to the opera Sister Liu. Another pop star, Liu Huan has joined ranks. His voice is expected to make the latest artistic endeavor of Zhang Yimou even more eagerly anticipated.

Liu Huan,Chinese pop star, said:"We are making some changes in the operatic version of Sister Liu. We're adapting it to a more modern taste. Only in this way can it surpass the success that the original film received."

Sister Liu was first screened in the 1960's. The film is considered to be one of China's best musicals. It tells the story of how a heroine with a nightingale voice, finds her sweetheart through song.

Zhang Yimou's ambition has certainly gone beyond the big screen.
