Beijing Takes Note of Music Master Moroder

Giorgio Moroder, one of the most famous names in innovative music, is now in Beijing! His mission is to support pianist Kong Xiangdong's concert. But the arrival of the composer of many Olympic themes has sent out waves of anticipation in the capital in connection with the 2008 Games in Beijing.

Though 15 years have passed, the fantastic melodies are still powerful enough to draw listeners back to those exciting moments. Their creator is Giorgio Moroder, a prolific songwriter and a world-recognized composer.

Moroder's musical talent has also touched the realms of sports. He wrote Reach Out for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Hand in Hand for the 1988 Games in Seoul, and Un Estate Italiana for the 1990 Football World Cup.

Though having a supporting role in Kong Xiangdong's concert this time in Beijing, Moroder is generating a lot of interest. Is he going to turn his creativity to a Beijing Olympic theme song? The question was to put to him during an interview at CCTV.

The Chinese are expecting a terrific theme song for the Beijing Olympics. If Giorgio Moroder has anything to do with it, we'll all be singing a musical masterpiece in 2008.
