Int'l Sculpture Show Opens in Xiamen

A multinational sculpture exhibition was inaugurated Tuesday in Xiamen, Fujian Province, east China, which is scheduled to run till Dec. 20.

The exhibition, titled "Sea and Music" and located in the Bay Park of the city, is to display 31 exhibits from 11 countries. The artists will make the sculptures on the spot during the coming weeks.

The exhibits will feature 19 works from China, three from the Netherlands, two from the United States, and one each from Britain, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, India, Germany and Cyprus. These exhibits were selected from 417 candidate works from different countries.

The sculpture show would add charm to the scenic coastal city, said Deputy Mayor Pan Shijian.

Meanwhile, other events are also being held in the city, including an exhibition of sculptures by youngsters, an international photo show on urban sculpture, and a lecture on the art of sculpture and a concert.
