Animated 'Butterfly Lovers' Revives Classic Tale

The story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, also known as the "Butterfly Lovers", centers around a couple who are destined for an unhappy end due to feudal traditions, and is one of the finest works of ancient Chinese folk literature. This tragic tale of love has become a household favorite in China through various art forms. Now it is the turn of animation to bring the classic tale to life once more.

This animated version of "Butterfly Lovers" took three years to complete and manages to present the heartbreaking love story with delicacy and warmth.

Some big names took part in the production. Famous Taiwan singers provide the voices of the animated characters, as well as singing the theme songs. The riveting music is also another standout feature of the film. Chen Gang, composer of the all-time classic "Liang Shangbo and Zhu Yingtai", was invited to provide the background music. So both your eyes and ears will be in for a treat with this animated feature.
