Shaolin Kung Fu Enchants Macao

In a testament to the everlasting charm of Shaolin kung fu, a special martial arts show by monks from the ancient temple, won the hearts of tens of thousands of admirers in Macao on Saturday night.

Unlike the acrobatic and aerial kung fu styles prevalent in southern China, Shaolin kung fu is better known for its strenuous and disciplined training methods. Judging from the reactions, the presentation of tours de force by hundreds of Shaolin monks, was certainly an eye-opener for Macao audience members. Free of designed stunts and popular TV special effects, Shaolin kung fu is more realistic and more practical for avid fans. Saturday night's show celebrated the eleventh anniversary of the establishment of Macao's basic law.
