Shanghai is abuzz with the arrival of long-running Broadway musical, The Sound of Music. The hit stage show made its Asian debut at the city's Grand Theater on Sunday, to the delight of the audience, who joined in with the much-loved melodies.

The Sound of Music is a heartwarming story about a governess who takes care of seven Austrian children after World War I. Since it first opened on Broadway on November 16th, 1959, The Sound of Music has toured internationally for 45 years. The movie version in 1965, starring Julie Andrews, was another worldwide hit. There'll be 35 shows on the Shanghai stop. As well as evening performances, afternoon shows are available on weekends and on June 1st to mark International Children's Day.
