A half-romance, half-horror movie directed by Hong Kong-based filmmaker Danny Pang opened in theaters on the Chinese mainland on Tuesday.

"In Love with the Dead," starring Shawn Yue and Stephy Tang, continues Pang's unique style in a chilling, yet thought-provoking, thriller.

In the film, a young female cancer patient (Stephy Tang) and her partner (Shawn Yue) experience supernatural occurrences after their love fails.

Director Danny Pang and his brother Oxide established the Pang Brothers, which produced the 2002 hit horror film "The Eye." The film has since inspired a Hollywood remake.
