Clear Fuel Used to Protect World Heritage Site

A clear fuel, light hydrocarbon gas, is being used in Wulingyuan Scenic Resort in Zhangjiajie, a world heritage site in central China.

The gas has been sent to Baizhangxia Hotel for several days, and will be in general use soon, a source with the heritage administration said anonymously.

"There will be at least 300 days with excellent air quality here every year after all 30 hotels and resident communities in the area are equipped with the fuel," the source said.

The resort, located in Hunan Province, was listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1992. It consists of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxiyu Valley and Tianzishan Mountain.

A byproduct of petroleum, light hydrocarbon gas is a clear, innocuous and cheap fuel that has been recommended by State Bureau of Environment Protection of China.
