Truck Overturn Causes Acid Leakage in Shanghai

A car-tank truck collision occurred Monday afternoon in an outer ring road in the city of Shanghai, east China, resulted in the leakage of one ton of hydrochloric acid, said local traffic police. 

 

At around 14:20 PM Monday, a tank truck loaded with three tons of hydrochloric acid collided with a car in its wake at a road crossing in Shanghai's outer ring road, causing the tank truck to overturn with the leakage one ton of hydrochloric acid.

 

Local public security, traffic, medical and fire fighting departments have rushed to the site to deal with the accident.

 

Witnesses said they felt a strong irritating smell spread all over the scene, and those injured have been rushed to hospital. The accident caused one hour of traffic jam and no death has so far been reported.
