Noise Pollution Complainants Get Awards
Haikou, capital of south China's Hainan Province, is to reward complainants of serious noise pollution.

People in the city are being urged to report noise pollution to the authorities through a 24-hour environment hotline. If the noise pollution is found to be serious, the complainants could get a reward ranging from 100 yuan (US$12) to 200 yuan (US$24).

The city is engaged in an intensive crackdown on noise pollution, one of the major undertakings it has promised to the local people this year.
