Three-year Environmental Protection Plan in Shanghai's Pudong New District
Pudong New District has recently declared a three-year plan of environmental protection, eastday.com has learned.

The package included targets in improving water and air quality, expanding green lands and reducing garbage pollution.

It said that within three years, river courses in downtown Pudong will be initially free of dark and stench water. A continual worsening of water quality in suburbs will be effectively prevented. Some 70 percent of sewages in the district will be collected.

There will be more than 150 days with excellent air quality annually in the district.

Some 80 percent of the industrial and residential wastes will receive classification.

Some 35 percent of the district area will be green lands and public green belts will total some 190,000 square meters.

More than 80 percent of stock farms will receive renovation to reduce pollution and those located inside the Outer-Ring Road will all be removed.
