China Trains Environmental Scientists in Universities
More than 40 educators recently gathered in Qinghuangdao, Hebei province, to discuss about the training of university students in environmental engineering, the compilation of the teaching texts and the reform in teaching.

There are altogether 92 universities and colleges that have 103 specialties in environmental science. Compared with 1995, the specialties have risen by 2.5 times and 3.1 times as many students have been trained.

The educators believed that it will be a long-term and arduous task to improve the quality of teaching and train the first-rate specialists in environmental science.

They urged that new texts will be compiled to meet the task. The new texts will come off the press in Autumn of 2003.
