Ecological Buses in 2008
By 2008, when Beijing hosts the Olympic Games, all the 3,000-odd old buses currently plying the streets of the capital will have been replaced by environment-friendly buses, mostly using natural gas. The city now has some 1,800 buses powered by compressed natural gas, with each bus carrying 7-12 gas cylinders. Also, China's first bus powered by a special battery is expected to start operation in Beijing next year, the Beijing Evening News reported.
