Hong Kong, Sweden to Issue Wetland Bird Stamps

Postmaster General of Hong Kong Allan Chiang announced Monday that a set of Water bird stamps depicting four species of wetland birds will be issued on Oct. 4.

This is a stamp issued by Hong Kong Post in cooperation with Sweden Post, and is the fourth joint stamp issue that Hong Kong Post has organized with other postal administrations.

The four species of water birds depicted are: Pied Avocet, Horned Grebe, Black-throated Diver and Great Crested Grebe. These four species are representatives of wetland birds as they show their specialized morphological adaptations to wetland environments.

All the four species are found in Sweden, and with the exception of the Black-throated Diver, they have been sighted in Mai Po and Inner Deep Bay areas of Hong Kong.
