Park Paths Repaved to Save Trees

Some paths in parks in Guangzhou will be broken up and repaved to save trees that are being killed by the cement surfaces of the paths, reports Guangzhou Daily.

Built for the convenience of pedestrians, the cement paths in parks have been blocking the growth of tree roots, which is partly to blame for the death of 62 old trees.

The paths will be repaved with tiles, which allow water to get through to the trees' roots.
