Jinan Reports Largest Rainfall in 11 Years

Rainfall precipitation measured Tuesday noon in Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong Province, reached 68 mm, the largest volume recorded around this time in 11 years, said local meteorological bureau.

Heavy rain pounded the city as from 10:00 p.m. Monday, and then abated in the wee hours of Tuesday to drizzle at noon, said the bureau, adding that the rain band will continue moving eastwards to precipitate in Shandong Peninsula.

On May 12 1993, local rainfall reached a record high of 107 mm.
