Old Songs Staged to Commemorate Victory in Resistance War

A concert of old songs was held in Beijing Sunday evening to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of China's resistance war against Japanese aggression and the world war against fascists.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, attended the concert.

Most of the major singers are amateurs from all walks of life throughout the country, including ordinary soldiers, workers, farmers and students.

The concert consists of three parts: the national crises, fighting the aggressors and marching towards victory. The concert is made of songs popular during that war, including the Songhuajiang River, Fight our Way to our Home, on the Taihang Mountain, Protect the Yellow River and Celebrate the Victory.

Liu Yunshan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and also head of the Department of Publicity of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the concert.
