Coalition Forces Meet on Security Challenges in Iraq

Coalition forces on Tuesday met in Albania's capital Tirana to discuss security in Iraq, said a report by the Albanian news agency.

The two-day meeting, sponsored by the Central Command of the US armed forces, will focus on security challenges in Iraq after the referendum on the proposed constitution, the role of the Iraqi forces and the security plan for 2006 as well as short-term security measures in the war-torn country, said the report.

Representatives from 34 countries with troops in the coalition forces led by the United States took part in the gathering that was held under tight security.

Top US commander in Iraq General George Casey briefed them on the military and security situations in Iraq, while Commander-in-Chief of Central Command John Abizaid said the United States will strive to win more support from the European Union in its bid to build a broader coalition.
