Fourth seed Rainer Schuettler reached the second round of China Open here on Monday with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over unseeded Australian Paul Baccanello.

The German, who was the runner up of 2003 Australian Open, was pushed in the first set but broke in the ninth game to take charge.

The fourth seed strolled through the second set by breaking Baccanello in game two, four and eight to claim his first victory in China Open.
