Shanghai Senior Official Meets Japanese Visitors
Huang Ju, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met in Beijing Saturday with Japanese Democratic Party head Yukio Hatoyama and his party.

Huang said that during its fast economic development over the last decade, Shanghai had attracted huge investment and trade cooperation from Japan.

He said that there were good prospects for trade and economic cooperation between Shanghai and Japanese companies.

Hatoyama said that many investment projects made by Japanese business people achieved success in China.

Japan had become Shanghai's largest trade partner in the last 10 years, and invested in 3,167 projects in Shanghai, accounting for 13 percent of foreign investments in the coastal economic powerhouse, sources said.

During their stay in Shanghai, the guests visited the Pudong District and the Japanese-funded Shanghai Huahong-NEC Electronics Company.
