US to Investigate Russian Convoy Incident in Iraq
US Secretary of State Colin Powell assured his Russian counterpart Igor Ivanov on Sunday that the United States would investigate an attack at the Russian diplomatic convoy fleeing Baghdad, the State Department said.

US State Department spokeswoman Jo-Anne Prokopowicz said Powell talked with Ivanov about the incident Sunday morning by telephone.

"We are still trying to figure out what happened," Prokopowicz told reporters. "We are working to establish direct contact between the convoy and US commanders on the ground so that we can provide any assistance that may be needed."

Five people, including the Russian ambassador, were injured Sunday when a convoy of vehicles with 25 Russian diplomats and journalists trying to flee Iraq was attacked as it headed for the Syrian border.
