US Military Says Possible WMD Storage Site Found in Iraq
The US military said on Monday a storage site for weapons of mass destruction (WMD) may have been found in Iraq, the Qatar-base Al-Jazeera TV channel reported.

A Reuters report, citing Major Ros Coffman, a public affairs officer with the US 3rd Infantry, said US biological and chemical weapons experts believe they may have found a WMD storage site, south of the central Iraqi town of Hindiyah.

"Our detectors have indicated something," said Coffman, adding "This is an initial report, but it could be a smoking gun."

The United States, despite opposition from most of countries, started a war against Iraq on March 20 on allegation that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was hiding and secretly developing weapons of mass destructions.

The US administration has been insisting they believe the Iraqi regime possesses the lethal weapon, but no weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq so far.
