Germany Remains Opposed to Iraqi War
German spokesman said Wednesday that Germany has remained opposed to the US-led war against Iraq despite march of American troops into Baghdad.

Thomas Steg, a spokesman for the German government, said there had been no discussion in Schroeder's cabinet on any revision of government policy on Iraq.

"The fighting is still going on. People are still dying," said Steg, adding that Germany hopes that the war will end as soon as possible.

Germany has been firmly opposed to US military strikes against Iraq and called for giving UN the central role in reconstruction and security guarantee of the post-war Iraq.
