China Welcomes Establishment of Iraqi Governing Council
China welcomes the establishment of the Iraqi Governing Council, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing Tuesday at a regular press conference.

China hopes that the situation in Iraq will stabilize quickly as soon as possible and that the Iraqi people will soon be able to lead stable lives, said Kong.

Inaugurated on Sunday in Baghdad, the council is the first national executive body established in the war-torn country.
