China is an active participant in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation

("APEC"). At the 11th APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting in October, 2003, President Hu Jintao said that all members should strengthen mutual trust, keep the stability of Asian-Pacific regions; take effective measures to speed up the coordinate development of economic society; promote opening each other's markets and perfect multilateral trade system. Those views expressed the consensus and were embodied in the Leaders' Declaration issued at the meeting.
